Prince Gagarin was born in St. Petersburg and educated in Germany and Russia. He first came to America in 1912, began working for the Russian Foreign Ministry in 1913 at embassies in the United States and abroad. He returnned to the U.S. in 1923, was involved in the work of the Russian Orthodox Church and such organizations as the Russian Church Assistance Fund, the Committee for the Defense of the Church, the Federated Russian Orthodox Clubs, the Tolstoy Foundation, and St. Vladimir's Seminary....
